Board of Education Swearing-in Ceremony
On January 15, 2015 , Judge Thompson administered the oath of office to newly elected members of the Candler County Board of Education, Mr. Johnny Vines of District 4 and Mrs. Carolyn Byrd of District 2. They are shown here taking the verbal oath of office and also signing their respective oaths of office and allegiance to the Constitutions of the U.S. and State of Georgia. After each election it is the duty of Judge Thompson as Probate Judge of Candler County to verify the required oaths, signatures and bonds, if necessary, for many elected officials. Judge Thompson is required to register those items in the minutes of the Court and with the Secretary of State's office.
